>>> JOINING ROOM
Main page
“The Joining Room is a platform for experimental practices working across visual art, performance,  sound and music. It does not have any fixed space from which it operates, but is rather a conceptual  'space' that joins onto existing structures and sites. As such it becomes a platform for experimental  practice that can 'appear' or situate itself anywhere - a project space, museum or gallery, a studio, a  theatre, a nightclub, a bar. The parameters and form of a joining room project are determined by the  specific assemblage of relationships defined by the invited artists, the space in which the work unfolds.  Thus the 'join; refers to both the institutional space that the Joining Room connects with and occupies  for the duration of the work, and the conceptual and thematic framing that joins the diverse set of  practices of the invited artists. The joining room is the project of Bettina Malcomess, a writer and artist,  who works in a curatorial capacity to set processes in motion via the platform.”

The Joining Room first took place at the Centre for the Less Good Idea (Johannesburg,SA) in 2018, titled: Writing for the Eye, Writing for the Ear.
